When it comes to taking a whiz on someone, proper decorum dictates that you not only confirm the person is alive, but also get their blessing first.

Last week’s video of four U.S. Marines urinating on three dead Taliban soldiers was dishonorable, disgusting and deplorable. However, some pundits in the media acted as though these men had flown the very jets that took down the Twin Towers on 9/11.

These Marines should certainly be punished. Their moronic actions hurt peace talks, threaten the safety of other soldiers and further provoke terrorists. But is it just us, or does it seem like some of today’s war coverage is more compassionate towards the enemy than merciful towards our own troops?

Numbers

98%

Of Army recruits had a high school diploma in 1992. Today, less than 80% of recruits do.

What does this mean for the most part? We are training dumber to be equally deadly.

noun.     a lack of agreement or consistency.

Used in a sentence: While both actions are wrong, there seems to be a moral dissonance between putting a bullet into a living man’s heart and putting urine on a dead man’s skin.

Fact

More U.S. soldiers killed themselves than died in combat in 2010.

A first in the history of any American war.

The List

Lowered Standards = Poorer Performance?

More recruits allowed who did not graduate high school.
Lower test scores allowed for entrance exams.
More waivers for recruits with felony convictions.
Less physically fit recruits accepted.
More recruits accepted with formerly disqualifying medical conditions.

War is hell, so too must be the consistent expectation of killing the enemy with “class” and disposing of their bodies with “dignity” — especially when you know they will engage without the same standards in return.

Hey, these are cool!
