Hehehe…nice. Some good quotes.
Although not Irish (as far as I know) I’ve always loved this one:
“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” -Benjamin Franklin

Brilliant! Love the classic Oscar Wilde post and the quote by George Bernard Shaw! How true most of these statements, for better or for worse!

I don’t know who said it, but I’ve always liked, “If God had wanted the Irish to rule the world, He would never have given us Whiskey!”

Ben Franklin actually didn’t say that about beer. It’s probably one of the most misquotes of drinking history. What he actually said is:
Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards; there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy.

I think it was also George Bernard Shaw who was invited to come up for an advertising slogan for Guinness. He asked for a crate of Guinness to be delivered to his house while he thought about it.
The next day the Guinness reps came back and asked if he had come up with anything. ‘Yes,’ he replied ‘Guinness makes you drunk.’
Please don’t tell me that is an apocryphal story, I want to carry on believing that regardless.
