Thinking About … Acing Iraq

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I truly believe that the main reason our troops are being withdrawn is to bolster Obama popularity/ratings for the next election.u00a0 There is also some possibilty that we may being doing this to let Iran know we are ready to take them on.u00a0 We should have let Israel go in and bomb the shit out of Iran two years ago.

Yeah, maybe it IS a political ploy…….if so, its a good one. Doesnt matter, he had my vote anyway. Could be its an economic move, if so, its a good one……we are being dragged down into the red even farther over this unwinnable war. Could be its just time for Iraq to stand on its own. Whatever the reason…..Im thrilled. Its the first GOOD news weve had in a very long time.

  • Dispel the Myths

I agree with Carlsonc, I don’t give a flying f#$% what the reason is. u00a0For all I care, Obama lost a drinking game to Hillary. u00a0The important bit is that the boys (and girls) are coming home. u00a0What should have happened 8 years ago is finally transpiring.

Bringing home my brothers and sisters in arms sounds good, I just hope that the powers that be realize that such a move may embolden Iran to continue doing stupid stuff. In a way, I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up being asked to come back when Iran starts up their nonsense with their neighbor again.

  • Crazy

That could be true but at least troops can be home, get rested andu00a0 whatever else they need to do to get ready for the next time.u00a0 They all need some downtime.nnIt wouldn’tu00a0 really matter who was president, anyone in the job would be doing the same thing to boost their numbers for the next election.

This is the agreement Bush signed in 2008.u00a0 Obama wanted to keep 30K troops there, with legal immunity from any local prosecution and the Iraqi Government said no and would not re-negotiate the agreement.u00a0 Without this immunity, Obama has little choice but to pull the plug.nnAn Amrican GI on trial in an Iraqi Court (no matter what the charge was) would have played very badly in the US.u00a0 Re-election or not.

I do not disagree with any of you about bringing the troops home.u00a0 I will be as happy as youu00a0all are to welcome them back.u00a0 I have family and friends over there!u00a0What concerns me is that once home will they stay home.u00a0 If we leave Iraq vulnerable to the more extreme factions in that area and what few human rights have ever existed there, are we going to turn around and send troops back to a much more well armed, organized, utra-extremist land. Carlsone, you vote how you want…..that is one of our fundamental rights.u00a0 I chose notu00a0to place my trust in the hands of au00a0narcissisticu00a0man whose history was quite so questionable.u00a0 Thus far, I feel that I that I made the right decision!u00a0 Show me one thing that Obama has done that has improved this Country.u00a0 If his one slice of glory is to “bring the troops” home, then I hope his multitude of mistakes follows him to the election next year.u00a0
