Thinking About … Asian Carp

Can Carp be served as Sashimi? If so I’d gladly try some from one of the non-toxic sources. Hell I’ll even try it from one of the canals…It’s Sashimi damn it!

We are human. Overall, humans are greedy, stupid animals. This introduction of an invasive species is happening all the time. The giant hogweed is causing all sorts of ecological trouble and allergic reactions and it was an introduced invasive that some woman brought over because she thought it was so good looking and she wanted it for her garden. It is very toxic and I would say very ugly. She just had a small fine to pay for it and we still haven’t found anything to eradicate it from our land. The European Starling was imported because a man more than a hundred years past felt homesick. He imported several and now they are all too plentiful. They aren’t even beautiful birds. They are filthy and steal food from native birds. These carp are the same. We thought, oh what an easy and cheap way to help us manage these fisheries. Often these ideas are incompletely researched. The idea then gets out of hand and destroys all too much of our North American nature. However, it isn’t just North America. It happens in Asia all too often, and I’m certain there are times in Europe that it has reared its ugly head too. Greed and lack of research. It will bring the planet down.

Feed them the Kudzu some idiot brought over, maybe they will kill each other off

There’s a decorative fishtank algae from Asia that got loose and is now covering large swaths of the Mediterranean, forcing out native species.

Add to that the Asian Beetles, that look like ladybugs but with more spots and more of an orange red, that some brilliant idiot brought over to kill the aphids. They have no known predator in the US and have proliferated in numbers that are invading homes and businesses. rnrnPlus, the cheetgrass someone planted because it grows fast has disturbed the balance of nature so badly that the bald eagles and other birds are losing their food source because the critters they eat are dying from eating the destructive cheetgrass.rnrnYes, lack of research and believing that the “quick fix” will work without regard to long term effects. Idiots…
