    I’ve got BA/MM/MA/ABD and I’ve never been drunk in my life. My father was an alcoholic, the best negative object lesson I’ve ever had. As a college freshman, I joined the Beta Phi “service” fraternity. It soon became clear that the group’s real purpose was an excuse to get drunk frequently, so I quit. Wis. is shamefully patronizing of drunks, partly because of the brewing history of many beer makers here and because of the lobbying clout of organized tavern owners. My mother, a saint, was killed when a drunk kid without a license rear-ended her into a utility pole. Prohibition isn’t feasible but drunk drivers who kill should be incarcerated for life.

    I added an appropriate, sensible, question….”Have you ever gotten a “pube” caught in your throat while muff diving?” I don’t think they used my question! But it happens and it is like the old pop corn kernel lodging in your throat. Then when you try to hack the damn thing up, the girl gets upset and is no longer in the mood. There’s just no pleasing some women.

    I’ve been drunk once in my life, never went to college and yet I make more than the degree thumpers standing in the unemployment lines! Go figure!

    Binge drinking isn’t overblown in the media. More people need to be aware of it.
