I will change up one of the questions a bit.nu00a0″Does the lack of compassion by the educated for the mentally ill blow you mind?”nEven in this day and age mental illness is still grossly misunderstood. nQuite mind blowing in my opinion the stigma placed on people with Depression, Bipolar Disorder and other forms of mental illness.nnToo bad they didn’t know more back in Hemingway’s day, he might have lived longer with better treatment. n15 shock treatments? It a wonder he had any mind left.

A great stylist, to be sure, but of limited range in his world view. After For Whome the Bell Tolls, he descended into painful, unconscious self-parody, including The Old Man and the Sea. I’d rate him a minor romantic poet and leave it at that.u00a0

I’d put some of his short stories up there with Raymond Carver. u00a0As far as having a “limited range in his world view” … don’t we all?

Another great read.u00a0 I haven’t touched Hemingway since high school.u00a0 I’m going to have to read some again… now that I’m in my 30′s, I am wondering how I will feel about Hemingway now, compared to when I was a teen.nnP.S.u00a0 This is why TTP rules.u00a0 The E_mails can range from thoughtful, to silly, to sad, to juvenile, to just plain WTF.u00a0 Keep up the good work.u00a0 When are we going to have another Dames We Dig?
