Thinking About … Iron Maiden

They try hard, and yeah they are decent enough musicians but they’re just not innovative. As a musician myself, I find their arrangements and math too predictable. Thus boring. nnI would however twist a fatty and rock out with the crowd were I to see them live. I just wouldn’t buy a tee shirt on the way out.

dont know their new stuff , but everything before 1986 was Very Good !!!!! Awesome bass riffs, great lyrics ad the firs singer Paul was in my opinion better then Bruce (he was on the first two albums) Maiden Japen a mini record is Suberb if you can find it

Check out the “Hand of Doom Orchestra”. They did the entire “Piece of Mind” album front to back as an orchestral arrangement. When you find this on youtube, only then can you understand how well composed these tracks by Steve Harris & Co. really are…

  • Chris@TTP

Nice, will check it out. Thanks Trey!

Dianno was good lead singer for sure. “Iron Maiden” and “Killers” were great albums and “Wrathchild” is a track that still gets the blood pumpin’, but Bruce is light years beyond what Paul was capable of vocally and in stage presence. “Maiden Japan” is an excellent live album…the best part…Eddie wielding the samurai sword.

Are you insane my good man? Not innovative? Dude, head over to our playlist and fire up “Dance of Death.” No band sings about, sounds like or does it as well as Maiden. No t-shirt? Swaag these guys have putting out the dopest dorsal coverings since velour shirts in the 70′s. You did get the twist the fatty thing correct, however. Thanks for rolling with us dude!rn

i agree with darren the stuff from the 80′s and earlier was the best, or maybe i’ve changed. i’m 40 now but seen maiden 3 or 4 times as a younger metal-head. yes it was cool to be able to tell the old man that my music is NOT all sex, drugs and rock and roll. also mention should be made of the awesome artwork, i believe the artist is derrick riggs..

Saw them live in May. One of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. Not a lot of old stuff, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Ok ok…let me put it in better context. When I mean “arrangements and math” musically speaking, I’m talking about a band like…oh…Helmet. Their math is “over the top”. But yeah they’d never touch a topic like Icarus so I would have to say IM innovates in that way for sure.nnI don’t know — when IM were getting up to snuff the whole Punk thing was just “so much more” when it came to innovation, that I just found IM tiresome musically. I also appreciate the TTP for reminding me that a band like IM is still out there and encouraging a Revisit. nnIt being Fryday and all, I should probably twist one and do your IM playlist Loud at Low Volume later… see if my opinion will changes

I never went to a Maiden concert, in fact, I can only name 1 song. But I did meet Bruce in person at a Cramps concert in Amsterdam and he is a real nice person. I don’t know anything about his dick size, but he is a very short man.

Absolutely loving the new album! I’m blown away by how awesome it is, even after about 70 spins. Just got the double vinyl set the other day and can’t believe how great it sounds… even on picture discs. This is easily one of their best albums for me and am happy for them to get so many number ones in the charts. Gotta check out that Piece Of Mind orchestral album.
