Thinking About … Jala Neti

I used to be a neti pot head. u00a0It does feel strange at first, but when you blow a huge wad of mucous out that first time, it is like nirvana. u00a0I recommend not using tissue for this because you’ll easily make a mess. u00a0Go buy some cheap white washcloths which will keep you from blowing snot all over your hands, and you can also bleach them when done (put these in the load with your sock “girlfriend” who has never let you down). u00a0I stopped using neti because I found myself dripping saline hours later. u00a0Very annoying. u00a0Bottom line, I agree with TTP that it is gross, but so are other things in life that ultimately bring comfort, like letting loose the morning after drinking your buddies under the table.

Been doing this for years- but I learned about it as “Nasal Lavage”nWorks a treat, but definitively takes some getting used to. nCan also be used to help with ear-wax build-up (use separatensqueeze-bulbs/turkey basters, etc for each activity!).nBe squeeky clean, inside and out!u00a0

I use a “canned” version of the neti pot, sold by the brand name Simply Saline. It is pressurized saline that works the same way. It’s way less messy than mixing your own, rinsing the pot, etc. It has helped my allergies immensely. I used to have to take Mucinex-D every day, in addition to my allergy meds. I’m completely off the Mucinex now.

My mom gave me a pot after I quit smoking. I was getting sinus infections left and right and she thought it would help. I tell ya, if I started feeling stuffy, I’d mix it up and use it. Always seemed the next morning I could breath perfectly. Mine looks more like a plant feeder than the one in the links, works as well as I need it to.

Weird, I’m only seeing 4 questions above.
