Thinking About … Kiss

“…they haven’t put out a decent record in over two decades…”

That is SO not true. Sonic Boom is their best album since Love Gun. Between those two albums, your point is arguably valid.

I saw KISS in 1976 at the long-gone Chicago Ampitheatre. That was when concert t-shirts cost $5 and you couldn't get a martini at a concert. The bathroom was rendered unusable by the female audience, and we stood on our chairs throughout the show.

gene is a marketing genius! 48 albums, 4 hit songs and 2000 sku's of products…makes britney think twice about her fuck ups

  • Rick O'Boyle

Hated them in HS ('72-'75)…hate them now.
    Overrated clowns!
    Not my definition of Rock.

  • Oranguice

1st time I'd seen Kiss was on the Donny & Marie show…..What tossera I thought….I was like 10 or 11 and was so into the Beatles & Stones that I'd seen right through the gimmickry of Kiss….Thank You Beatles & Stones!!!

I just saw Shatner's Raw Nerve on the Bio Channel yesterday interviewing Gene Simmons. Who knew he was a little Jewish kid in Israel whose father abandoned him> he comes to the USA, sees the Beetles and decides to have a rock band. He is an unbelievable driver who can make things happen. crazy shit

  • bobby the K

    Shit.

  • Wigger

Kiss has always sucked. The fact that they are still selling merch & I guess albums, pisses me off to no end! Anyone over the age of 12 that still likes Kiss ought to be ashamed of themselves!

  • Trey

Ok, I'll admit I was in the Kiss ARMY when I in the 3rd and 4th grade, but once I got into some real Rock and Roll, I figured out they suck as a band. I have enjoyed a few episodes of Gene's reality show, though, and it is a shame that Gene owns the rights to the Kiss name and likeness, thus making millions still. While the other guys are nearly homeless.

Sure the new (since 1990) is nothing to brag about, but the stuff before that was awesome. This band was the father of hair metal in the 80's, and here they are, still going strong. I'll see them in concert every chance I get, if only to hear the oldies.

  • Jimgilder52

they should of saved some $$

  • Jake

Gene Simmons is a no-talent ass clown, megalomanic and a moron but he's got most of the public fooled that he's “cool” when actually it's just an act to make money. So, marketing is his redeeming quality because it sure isn't musical talent.

  • Hansmoerdijk

strictly for under 12 years old.

  • Kendotek

Gene is a better marketer than a musician. KISS was just pop music wrapped up in a glam wrapper. McDonald' s has served billions of hamburgers too, but it don't make them fine dining.
