Thinking About … The Pledge

  • Nash

I personnaly was in high school in the late nintees and I refused to stand up or say the pledge for this very reason. Even if I were a Christian, I would disagree with having that in the pledge because how would it be if the situation was reversed and you were required to pray toward Mecca three times a day to a God you didnt believe in. I will only say stand up for the pledge and that is if I am on someone elses turf like on an army base and thats pretty much it.

I'm going to get back to my kindergarten values and repeat “one nation, UnderDog, Invisible …” just as I did back then. I'm such a traditionalist.

You really need to learn some history. Not everything happened 500-600 yrs ago.
A lot has happened in the last 100 yrs., 50 yrs. and is still going on but of course you wouldn't know anything about that would you. It doesn't effect your life so of course you don't care.
I don't dwell on past but it is part of my life as are the things going on today.
I know my history and the history of many tribes and the injustice has not stopped.

i am all for the pledge by do we really need to “under god” part, we all have our own beliefs and if mine doesn't include god that's not on anyone else but myself, so don't make such a big deal if i just skip right over those tow words.

In the 1960's, while I was in school, when we were saying the pledge those that did not want to say the phrase 'under God ” were allowed to not say that phrase and no one complained. Can't we have that sort of understanding now.

You got to be kidding me!
    What's this 500 year BS?
Go pick up a history book and REALLY try reading it.
You are spewing a lot of crap you don't know crap about!
Religious beliefs (or non-beliefs) should be a personal issue
and not enter into our politics.
