Thinking About … The View

  • Makeanoise

Your recent email states that President Obama is the first sitting President to go on a talk show….this is not correct. In 2004, George W Bush was on Dr. Phil…fyi

  • Vince Goetz

    Stupid is as stupid does….

  • Janka2000

That are two different questions: I DID vote for Obama but I do NOT like the way things are going, he is trying too hard to accommodate the right wing!

  • Gaylordgulledge

Correction: Obama is trying hard to keep from being thrown out of office long enough ram through as much of the Progressive agenda as possible. This man is anti-American. Read/listen to His own words.

Oh, I'm sorry, the MSM doesn't cover the truth anymore. They're in the Progressives' tank.

  • BienHoaBaby

“That are two different questions: ” ???????????? Duh….no kidding….you voted for Obama for sure. You must be a victim of our government concentration and re-education camps masquerading as public schools.

Comrad Obama is the most pusillanimous president of all time. But he talks a tough game. I predict he's a big success on the “View” and all but Elizabeth will swoon over every pearl of wisdom that drops from his lips.

  • Kristy

you are crazy… he is not progressive.. i dare you to name one truly amazing progressive thing he has done.. because if you ask me he is as middle of the road as he can be…

  • Neraksnikl

“As smart and talented as Barack Obama is” Who said he was “smart and talented”?? I for one don't agree with this statement one bit.

  • John

An impossible task – nothing about the Progressive philosophy has anything even remotely “truly amazing” about it. I can name a bunch of abysmally disgusting things if you'd like.

  • Tom

Smart and talented? Bull crap. He is one of the most ignorant Keyans I have seen. He is completly brainless and if no monitor is completly lost. He has been programed to take us under. World Government Bull! It will not work and can't work. As for ignoring the BOY SCOUTS he should be thrown out of there. If I had a ounce of respect before I would have lost it there!

  • Ronald Jeremiah III

Obama is like a talented actor who chose the wrong movie to star in. He is in way over his head. Action will trump words every time. However, I am not a hater. I respect the man, he was elected fair and square by the people. At the end of the day, the presidency is such a big job that NO ONE will ever be able to do it to everyone's liking.

  • crazy

What a bunch of lame ass idiots have made comments here.

You think we had it better with Bush? Give me a freakin break!
Give Obama a break for shit sake, you can't fix 8 years of Bush kissing ass to big business and oil companies and rich folks tax breaks AND selling us down the river for this stupid war he lied about in less then 2 years.

McCain sure as hell couldn't have done any better and had everything fixed by now!

I didn't watch the view today but if they let them ask any questions they want, no one is going to cut to the heart of things and ask real questions like those ladies would.
But I expect Obamas media people had to approve any questions in advance.
The need to get rid of Elizabeth.

I do not like the man or his rabidly socialist agenda with a passion, but here's the thing. Many people truly believe that he is lying and/or that he is out of touch, but think of it in a different context. Everything that is occurring, such as the escalating debt and unemployment level are signs of an improving economy…HIS idea of a good economy; one that will lead us towards Socialism. The bigger a hole he digs, the further we all slide and before the nation crumbles wouldn't you know it, there is the government to help us out of the hole so that the conversion to Socialism will be complete. He’s just like Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, John Daly, Jack Clark, Scottie Pippen, Lenny Dykstra and Latrell Sprewell, just to name a few. Think of a derogatory term used to refer to a selfishly extravagant person who has no prospects of ever paying off the debts they incur.

As for Janka2000, he is a desperate man in desperate times. The way things are going, he'll be a lame-duck because the ideas of the LIBERAL LEFT wing are so unpopular that if he doesn't start fellating the right wing to try and flip some votes by November, he will lose Congress and then he'll just sit there with his gums flapping about how Bush caused him to lose Congress.

Either way, even if he is able to mend the damage he’s caused, it’ll be a Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch.

  • http://twitter.com/trunks_cscs Michael A. Foresto

Neither do I. As for smart, so what if he went to Harvard Law? Ever hear the term affirmative action? Succeeding at Harvard Law isn't the hard part, getting into Harvard Law is the hard part!

And as for talented, talented at what? Spending money, destroying economy, elevating the unemployment rate, causing our foreign allies to dislike us, showing subservience to foreign dignitaries and I can continue, but it's time to head to class to earn my SECOND MS degree since I have lots of time being that I've been totally unemployed for close to a year!

  • http://twitter.com/trunks_cscs Michael A. Foresto

Communism/Socialism/World Government won't work because people like to own shit.

  • RFJ

His platform of “Change” is his most “Progressive” act. The progressives want to fundamentally change our way of life. They feel the Constitution is outdated and needs change. Our capitalist way of life needs to change through redistribution of wealth, etc.
” Progressive” is not what it sounds like, its not progress. It's extreme left liberalism in a fancy sounding more “positive” sounding name. Don't be fooled!

  • Caressofsteel7

Yeah we do! We like to own our own lives, we like to own the right to prosper or fail on our own, we like to have our own free will to follow a path in life weather good or bad, we like to own our own government which is suppose to be by the people and for the people, we like to have our own rights to remove a governing body that has become over bearing and tyranical and more focused on it's own goals and power than the people's, and yes, we like to own our own 65″ plasma TVs because a bill was issued, a check was written in blood and cashed so this could all come to be in the form of this great countries freedom! Semper Fi America! Semper Fi!

  • Caressofsteel7

Well, this lame assed idiot thinks that it would take a simplistic dolt to think that everything that is wrong with this country is Bush's fault. That makes you no better than those who say everything that is going wrong now is Obama's fault. Like the black man who hates the white man because all whites are racists. I believe Obama is doing what he thinks is right. It's just a shame his idea of right is so wrong for this country at this point in time. He's a 1 termer, a temp if you will, then again, all presidents are temps anyway.

  • Jim Hoffmann

Missed the Boy Scouts for those dumb dames? What a flaming jerk! But it's ok to send this country & all it stands for down the tubes. Oops, I must be a racist!

  • Diamond_Girl

Obama is a delusional joke of a man, and a humiliation as a president. There's isn't an ounce of humility in him, and his continuous “blame everybody else” for EVERYTHING that happens under his watch is freakin' juvenile. His cluelessness about basic economics is sending the American Dream down the toilet, his horrifying pandering to nations who wish us dead has the world laughing at us, he has complete disregard for the Constitution and American traditions (God Bless the Boy Scouts! May they last ANOTHER 100 years!), and his use of bribery to score votes to ram his fatally flawed policies through Congress lay bare his true nature and ambitions — to DESTROY America and transform our daily lives into a Socialist nightmare of regulations, monitoring, and robbing the rich to support the “poor” (who often live in better homes and eat better than WE do!)

Anyone who voted for this fool and STILL believes he's a decent president needs a labotomy.

  • MrWinfield

As far as Obama being on The View, I'm just glad they added another female….other than Elizabeth.

  • crazy

I didn't say everything was Bush's fault but he did nothing to make things better. Pandering to his rich cronies was his thing. Then how long did it take to even think about impeaching him, 7 years was it?
Dumb asses were talking about impeaching Obama after one year, not even giving him a chance to even try to get anything fixed.
I also know it's a no win situation, no matter what he does someone will be pissed off about it. I'm just sick of all the idiots that hate him just because hes black.

  • Tupaxaday

the right wing idiots like you are out in force as usual!!!

  • Rickmar1

And you need to learn how to spell “lobotomy”. Says a lot about your intellect, my dear.

  • Cimun

That's it? You hang your rebuttal on a misspelled word? That is typical of an Obama supporter. You have nothing of substance to say, so you insult someone. Margaret Thatcher said it best… The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money.

  • Cimun

Government take over of healthcare….you dared me.

  • Cimun

And there you have it. If you disagree with President Obama's political agenda, it's because he's black. Nothing of substance to say, just name calling as usual. If you were driving around with a 1-20-09 sticker on your car or if you had a t-shirt with Mr. Bush's face on it that said “Not my President”, you were some kind of fucking hero. Someday you will look at your paycheck and wonder where all the money is going and you won't be so enthusiastic to save the fucking universe while your bills need to be paid. What REALLY needed to be “fixed” anyway? President Bush wasn't too bright, but at least he let me spend MY money the way I saw fit because I EARNED it.

  • Diamond_Girl

My apologies, Professor. Hope your jab made you feel superior :)

  • Justanotherstupidliberal

the blatant ignorance of this rant is scary- at least he's trying. BTW- it's “lobotomy,” as in releasing the frontal lobes of your brain which inhibit intelligence & result in mindless animal reaction to life events. kind of like your post.
respectfully submitted- a proud Eagle Scout

  • Ole Tex

The same thing about bama, he is trolling for votes. He is just too busy to go to Arlington and the National Boy Scout Jamboree. What a jerk!

  • ideas

If President Obama DID go to the boyscouts 100 year jamboree, there'd be an outcry that he was not doing his job. If he doesn't go, he's a terrorist, a socialist and gets called all sorts of nasty racial slurs that polite people think funny. And if he does blame the mess he stepped into when he took office after Bush, I don't see where that is wrong. It's true. Truth is something that I've missed in the 8 years of the terrorist Bush. He invaded a country, ignored the troops in Trashcanistan, lied about WMD's and left the USA in a shambles. Bush would never have gone on a talk show. Answering to the American public was something he disdained. I do think he's a decent president. I don't agree with everything he does and says. But he's got the balls to take responsibility when he should. His lack of hubris is refreshing. Should I go and get a “labotomy”, Sarah Palin? I look forward to a refudiation.

  • garymcc

COMMENT ~ that question about did I vote for Obama and did I become disenchanted with his presidency is two questions ~ not fair and not good…

Barak is a wonderful President and is doing a wonderful job cleaning up the messes of the previous administration. Sure he is overwhelmed at times, but who wouldn't be?

  • Diamond_Girl

Bravo, proud Eagle Scout. The misspelling was already addressed hours ago with Rickmar1, and you offer no factual rebuttal to my comments. Guess you are just another stupid liberal.

  • ds231

Couldn't have said it better myself ! If it wasn't gone before, the integrity of the president is now history. By the way after the Acorn scandal with all the votes that were cast by people who don't exsist does it surprise anyone that he uses bribery for votes now? He is a joke and if the voters can not see it by now then God help us all.

  • http://www.sassie.net/ mjgolli

Elected “fair and square”? Ever hear of ACORN?

  • lovanc

Based on most of the comments here I think that people have already made up their minds and are not going swayed by anything. Whoever for all the people that think that Obama is socialist I would advise you to get on a plane and visit a socialist country. I think that you will quickly realize that you are spending way too much time worrying about the US becoming socialist.

Secondly you can use data to check this. If the US is moving towards socialism then there will be data points that show this.
-The gap between the rich and the poor should be narrowing as this redistribution of wealth occurs.
-There should be fewer very wealthy people create on a per capita basis
    -etc.

If you think that Obama is a socialist then her would have pushed single payer rather than having a starting bid of the public option. Everyone knows that you are not going to get your starting bid.

    etc.

Obama is hurting himself by trying too hard to please both sides. The current political climate in the US is too divisive for that kind of strategy.

  • RFJ

Aren't things headed is that direction? Of course we aren't there yet, does that mean he and his people don't want it? We still have the right to fight against any form of government take over of our liberty.
If you want socialism then do what you think is right and do what you can to see it through. I don't and am doing what I can to see that through.

  • Joan Bueter

I offered a rebuttal…. How did you like it?

  • Diamond_Girl

It's not appearing. Feel free to try again!

  • Budman

this so called pres. needs to go and fast along with the rest of the socialist leaning politicians

  • lovanc

No I do not see them heading in that direction. Lets take the healthcare as an example. If Obama & his team were truly of a socialist mindset then they would have pushed through single payer.

I think that the word socialism is being seriously overused. It is not black & white. Everything socialistic is not bad just like everything that is capitalistic or democratic is not good. Simple example is that finding the next CEO for a major corporation is not a democratic process. If democracy works in all situations then why not do that and have all the employees of the firm vote for the next CEO. However because democracy does not work in that case does not detract from it being the best form of government for a sovereign nation.

Same with capitalism, if people believe so strongly that it is the best solution for everything why do most communities fight so hard when their police force or fire service is trimmed down. Just privatize both?

So in the same way there are instances were socialistic ideas work well (fire department, police force) and others where they do not, building the next economy.

Painting it all with the same brush is too simplistic in my opinion.

  • RFJ

Just the other day I saw a news clip of Harry Reid still pushing for the public option, just because the bill has passed doesn't mean it won't be fiddled with by both sides.
Socialism is bad for a form of government, name one that has worked as well as our way of doing things. It may surprise you that the United States in NOT a democracy. The United states is a REPUBLIC. We have democratic ways but our form of government is a Republic. A Republic is rule by law not by majority. We chose our leaders by democratic vote and they govern by the Constitution.
Corporations are free to do as they wish because of our Capitalist system. If they wanted to democratically elect the CEO they can.
Fire departments and Police departments are manned by volunteers working for a wage determined by the market and know going in they are entering a structured disciplinary vocation. It works best for that type of vocation, that doesn't make it socialist.

The Progressives want to dismantle the Constitution and tell the individual whats good for them instead of letting the individual choose for themselves.

  • lovanc

We obviously disagree on some fundamental definitions. My understanding of a Republic is that it is a style of government where the population has some form of representation in the republic. The USA to my understanding is a democratic republic as that representation is elected democratically. The nuance in the US system is for the president who is not elected by popular vote.

I have heard this comment about dismantling / circumventing the constitution and its probably just being a foreigner but I do not understand it. My understanding is that the separation of powers ensures that there is a process that prevents this. The only way to change the constitution is with a 2/3rds majority and except for gay marriage I have not heard of any initiatives to change the constitution.

Now for the individualism, again there are degrees to this. We live in communities so you cannot be 100% individualistic. That does not work with 6 bil people on a planet our size. That does not mean that you have to give up all control in your life but since you live in a community there are rules that you need to respect to continue living in that community. If you want to be 100% individualistic then you need a buy yourself a sovereign piece of land and setup your government. I think that people tend to merge choice & individualism. Having choice does not not mean that you are striving towards individualism. Choice can be limited to a particular category. Food is a perfect example here. There is lots of choice for cheap food with very little of it being healthy. That kind of choice does not empower anyone.

I assume that you think that the public option is a bad thing. I do not understand this when the same group of people support choice. This provides a choice for a large portion of the population that currently does not have a choice. There are numerous countries in the world where both public & private health care exist side by side. This provides more choice and if you are wealthy enough to afford private great but if you cannot then at least there is an option for you. This would give people a broader range of choice.
