Thinking About … Turn Signals

  • Ronjnail

“Drivers in standstill traffic who fail to leave room for you to turn across their lane. Thanks for the consideration and foresight there, poop shoot.”nnThis only works in absolute standstill traffic.u00a0 If the outside lane still has moving traffic, it can be very dangerous.u00a0 You have to follow the lead of the outside lane.u00a0 If they stop, you can stop.u00a0 Otherwise, it’s too dangerous to leave turning-across room.u00a0

I use my ashtray for ash!

  • Jason

u00a0Right on the money.u00a0 I am not a traffic signal.u00a0 I do not have the authority to tell someone else where and when they can and cannot go.u00a0 And when all lanes are not moving simultaneously, the car wanting to make a left our of the brown-bag magazine store during rush hour traffic has a good chance of blocking one or more lanes.u00a0 Nothing like some asshat making 30 cars wait just so one doesn’t have to.u00a0

Turn signals?u00a0 Didn’t anyone learn anything when they took their driver’s test???

  • Ohaway

Here in SW MO, turn signals are apparently disabled as part of dealer prep.u00a0

Nothing more annoying than when people in the right lane at a light are stopped and don’t leave room for people to go to their right to make a right turn. When I had an SUV I used to simply go up on the curb whilst showing them one of my fingers. Now I have an economy car that would probably bottom out.

I like that you mentioned the idiots that drive in the E-Z Pass lane without actually having E-Z Pass.u00a0 But, I just assume they’re mentally challenged.u00a0 However, what really bugs me are the drooling morons who drive through the E-Z Pass lane…going right under the giant, bright yellow sign that clearly says “20 MPH”…only to come to a complete STOP, before going through.u00a0 I affectionately refer to these douche-tards as “E-Z Passholes.”

I wonder if people who don’t use signalsu00a0think they are on a secret mmission, secret even from themselves.nnIn reality, I believe these people need to have their heads, as well as headlights tested.u00a0There is no room on the roads for such idiots, even if the police think they belong.(BTW I have personally seen peace officers fail to signal their intentions)u00a0

  • Mjdadcoach

I am often amazed that people spent all that money to buy turn signals with their vehicles and then abandon them.u00a0 if you aren’t gonna use ‘em, GIVE ME THE MONEY!

Jacksonville, Florida traffic signal rule: when driving down the street, especially with at least one other car following yours, apply brakes, regardless of speed limit, come to an almost complete stop, flip turn signal switch in appropriate direction, THEN turn, often causing near-fatal, multiple rear-ender collisions behind you, as you completely ignore the sounds of tires squealing, horns blaring, and the deepening blue of the air as curses rain down from all of those behind you that risked their lives for your incompetence and convenience.

  • larijorj

When a turn signal is blinking it only means the bulb is not burned out.u00a0 Left turn signal on when on the freeway at 75mph!

  • Rudd

Turn signals seem to be used more as ornaments than actual signaling devices.u00a0 I’ve seen right, left and hazard lights on going down a highway.u00a0 Better to stay way behind everyone and watch for the moorons.u00a0 I say “moorons” as they mostly behave like cattle.u00a0 Keep an eye out for idiots and you should survive.u00a0 Happy Driving, All!u00a0

  • Carol Fletez

I think there needs to be re-training in the use of these; people seem to assume that because they get in the left turn lane the people in front of them don’t want to know that is their intention! OR as in the article…arrgh!!!

  • Dr. Pretentious

Coming to a stop at an intersection, I like it when fuzznuts in front of me in the left lane decides to wait until the light goes green again before deciding to put his blinker on for a left turn. Where’s Clyde when ya need’im?n

  • ISignal

I find the odds amazing that all the drivers I encounter in my area who don’t signal are named “Dick”.

  • AngryDriver

I absolutely adore all those who decide to leave their high beams on at night with complete and total disregard to all others even if you flash your lights, keep them bright, u00a0blare your horn, curse them out, etc. u00a0If you’re THAT stupid that you cannot show respect to others or you’re THAT old then you should not be driving at night.nnThis is my biggest pet peeve and more and more drivers seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that in most states it’s illegal to keep YOUR HIGH BEAMS ON WHILE IN TRAFFIC. u00a0EFF YOU, MUTHERPUCKERS.nnOh yeah, while we’re at it…how about them idiots who love to travel in the left lane of a two lane highway with no one within miles of them on the right or in front of them? u00a0And then, of course, the really special ones who decide to get into a pissing contest with you if you should have the audacity to pass them on the right. u00a0I hate other drivers. u00a0Ya’ll suck.

  • Kinderswept

Take it easy man!u00a0u00a0 Your blood pressure has to be thru the roof!u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0 Hopefully heart attacks don’t run in your family.u00a0u00a0 Any way……….u00a0nI flashed my high beams at an approaching car that had left his high beams on at night and it was a cop who pulled me over and gave me a ticket for flashing my high beams at him.u00a0 He said it was illegal to do that with in 200 feet.u00a0 However his high beams on in 200 feet wasn’t?u00a0 He didn’t like it when I asked him that.u00a0u00a0 now that made me angry……….

  • Jlyn

In California if you signal, it seems to tell the guy behind you in the lane you want to move into that he/she should go really fast to keep you from getting in front. It works fine to make a hole to move into if you wait for the a**hole to zip past you and out of your way.

  • Landmcopeland1

As a nurse and what I know about people with health problems I do not like you using “colostomy bag” in your reference to people that drive. u00a0:( u00a0 u00a0 Bad Ethics for a columnist/blogger!!!!! u00a0LC
